New accounts are created in a pending state. When MITD opens to the public, pending accounts are switched to active and an access notification is sent to the email on file (no re-registration, no second application).

Ahead of that, you don’t need an account to look around. SPACE Mall stores are open to visitors right now. Creating an MITD account links your purchases to your profile, so eligible items may also unlock their digital counterpart.
